Cook Real Estate Agency of Thomasville, Georgia was founded by Mr. Carroll E. Cook in the early year of 1960. Cook Real Estate Agency has been a family business as his wife, Rita May Cook and all of the children (Eddie, Richard, and Linda), have worked in the organization over the years. 

In the late 1940's, Carroll Cook bought several surplus barracks from Spence Field in Moultrie Georgia.  He used the materials off the barracks to build ten small rental units.  From that time, Mr. Cook's interest in Real Estate and Construction grew.  Therefore, opening Cook Real Estate Agency in 1960.  It has always been a family enterprise, says Richard W. Cook, Broker Owner of the company.  Carroll Cook's wife, Rita May Cook, was a big part of the organization getting started.  Her interest was in home designs and floor plans.  She would draw all of the house plans we would build, says Richard.

Since the beginning of the company's existence, Carroll Edward Cook, Sr. built a business of Real Estate Rentals and Investments.  Mr. Cook has built nearly 100 homes and has had an interest in the developing of several streets in the Thomasville area.

Our belief is to help those individuals that can not qualify or get financing anywhere else for Housing. We have helped hundreds of people find a suitable home at a reasonable price.  Also, we have helped many families with buying their first home.

In the early seventies, Mrs. Cook started increasing the number of Real Estate Agents working for Cook Real Estate Agency.  Most of these agents that have worked for Cook Real Estate Agency in the seventies have moved on to other agencies.  Some of those agents have become the Broker of their own Real Estate business.

In February, 1993, Mr. Carroll E. Cook sold Cook Real Estate Agency to his son, Mr. Richard W. Cook. 

Richard W. Cook graduated from Thomasville High School in 1976 and Valdosta State College in 1980.  After graduating from College, Richard went to work for K-Mart as an assistant manager trainee with the Forrest Park K-mart.  After three months in the Atlanta area, Richard was transferred to a Kresge store in Lakeside Mall in Metairie Louisiana as an assistant manager.  A point of history of the Kresge and Kmart corporation: In 1977, The old Kresge stores or the S. S. Kresge Corporation changed its name to Kmart Corporation.  Richard lived in New Orleans area working with Kmart for a short while before coming back home and helping in the family business.

Richard W. Cook has been in the Real Estate business full time since 1982 when he received his salesperson's license.  Richard worked primarily in the construction field for many years.  In 1986, Richard received his associate Broker's license as he continued to work with his father.  In February 1993, Richard activated his broker's license.

Several years ago, Richard became more involved with rentals and property management as he did not have any agents to help him with the listing and selling end of the business.  Now, since Brian has come aboard, we will pursue more listings and selling of Real Estate. 

Richard Cook has been really involved over the years with civic organizations.  In 1985, Richard was president of the Thomasville Jaycees.  In 1986, Richard was a district director with the Jaycees and was president of the Thomasville Noon Lions club.  In 2005, Richard was president of the Thomasville Exchange club. Richard is a current member of the Thomasville Exchange Club, the Thomasville Area Board of Realtors, and the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce.

Richard and his wife, Mary, have two daughters.

In March 2010, Cook Real Estate Agency welcomed Brian Lameier  bdlameier@yahoo.com as a sales associate.   About two years ago, Brian moved to the Pavo Georgia area from Kissimmee Florida.  Brian and his wife, Dana, have two daughters.
